Original Modern Art by Emmett Ardie Williams
Above, Acrylic Painting on Canvas, ”Reclining Nude No. 1”.
Williams’ works come to be as a result of constant re-evaluation of his subjects, and re-thinking the processes of painting itself. Miserly use of materials ingrained within to not be wasteful. Use the minimum to the maximum. To the artist a well crafted pencil drawing can be as complex and equal in quality to the largest painting in the studio to him.
African Art as applied by others, focus on it’s root in the past. Williams seizes the genre for present tense. Williams documents his thoughts on cubism through his self-studies, every thought through brush-stroke, color-schematics and linear dissection of the planes of his canvases.
His cubist world begins and ends in the urban jungle. The city and the peoples of the city. Blue collar and white collars existing in the same world. His friends, family, romances and Jazz Heroes engraved on canvases and in print.
